Have you ever watched those videos on YouTube and thought ooh yes that I am definitely trying. That happened to me a few days ago when I watched a video about making lace pages in your art journals. It's not lace it the traditional since but doodling with a craft knife. Now it goes without saying that you have to be careful when using these tools; they are very sharp. Children have to get parents permission and supervision before trying.
I find that once you get going you get lost in the art of cutting out all those pieces.
A few tips though:
1: Make sure you have some general idea about how you want to to start your design
2: While you are trying for a lace effect try to not cut to close to each previous shape
3: If you want to paint or ink your paper afterwards think about the thickness of it
Last but not least just remember the tips above are just tips that I found helpful, if you would like to try it in your art journal relax and go for it is just art and there are no mistakes in art that can't be worked back into them ;)
